Kon'nichiwa, irasshai!

Kon'nichiwa, irasshai! (Hello and welcome!)

The House of Krause has officially relocated to Nagoya, Japan, for the next 3-5 years! (Give or take...) We have been here for almost 4 months now, and life in Japan is starting to make a bit more sense.

There have been several earthquakes through Japan in the last few weeks, which you may have seen on the news. Thankfully, none of these have been in our area. While we have been told that Nagoya is a "safe area" as far as major earthquakes and tsunamis, we have also been told that the location of the recent multiple earthquakes was also considered a "safe area". But life lived in fear of possible disaster is not living at all. And so, daily life continues!

Last night, we were blessed to find an amazing restaurant, quite close to us. (2 train stations and a 10 minute walk away...) Tiger Lily BarBQ Market is a family friendly American-style barbecue restaurant, opened by a Japanese surfer named Takeshima Yasunori, who moves around the restaurant with a big smile on his face. And for good reason. His BBQ is good. Very good.

Matt ordered the Texas BBQ Beef Brisket, the smoked bacon, and the pulled pork, along with some chili cheese fries. I ordered a "halfback" of babyback ribs, an order of 5 fried lollipop chicken drumsticks, and a mountain of crinkle cut fries with sour cream and sweet chili sauce for dipping. Ashton ordered a DOUBLE TigerLily burger (which I seriously could not have finished, but he powered through and claimed to still be hungry), Declan had a single TigerLily burger, and they shared another mountain of crinkle cut fries.

Everything was delicious. Including the T.Y.Harbor Brewing Company "Imperial Stout" that Matt and I shared, crafted in Tokyo. It was sent to our table by Yasunori-san, and he took great joy in our reactions.

As we left, Ashton told Yasunori-san that the food was "Totemo, totemo, totemo oishi desu!" ("It is very, very, very delicious!")

(I'm having trouble getting the photos to upload, but as soon as I can, I will post them.)
